1952 1953 1954 Tonka Janney Semple Hill Private Label Semi
Janney Semple Hill & Co. was a wholesale hardware distributor located in the Mid-west. Tonka historian Lloyd Laumann observed. "An interesting feature of this toy focuses on the tires. Although this special was produced in 1952, it has the new style tires introduced in 1953. During the months of October, November and December 1952, we produced some of our toys with the new style tires. The words Tonka Toys in swash style lettering are printed on the tires." Lloyd went on to say, "This model was (also) produced in 1953 and 1954. Precise records regarding actual production quantities are not available, however we estimate approximately 25,000 units were produced during the three years."
