1953 COE has 3 parallel, unequal length, horizontal impressions as a grille
The unretouched original semi featured to the left, shows the unique to 1953, three parallel, unequal length, horizontal impressions for the grille. 1953 also marked the beginning of the change over from the slip-lever latch design used to keep the trailer doors closed to a piano wire spring hinge on each door and a pair of handles for ease of opening to load cargo.

The image to the right shows the addition of a coat of arms decal to the top front center of the trailer. This variation was first noted on a semi sold on eBay in mid July 2015.
