1954 Tonka Star-Kist Foods Private Label Utility

1954 Star-Kist Utility
EXAMPLE 1. Original, unretouched MIB 1954 Star-Kist utility truck. Patrick informed me that "there were two cases of these trucks (12 total) found by Don DeSalle, in the 1994 to 1997 time-frame, in the estate of a former promotions guy with Star-Kist." This is one of the trucks from the two cases. From the Patrick O'Neil collection

EXAMPLE 1. Note the addressee label. The metered postage stamp indicates the truck was shipped from the Tonka factory in Mound, MN. The envelope contains an inflatable tuna, a premium not associated with the truck.

EXAMPLE 2. The history of the just above truck indicates that it was originally owned by a Star-Kist employee. The box was not opened until pictures were taken for the eBay auction listing in October 2012. Note the missing decals on the cab and utility bed. They were never applied by the factory making for an unusual variant.
